abstract = "Reflectance values obtained from TM/Landsat data were usedto
derive empirical models for retrieving water component
concentrations. Water samples were collected concurrently to
orbital data and the optically active components were determined
in laboratory. TM data were converted into reflectance values
using the calibration files and the average reflectance of each
water sampling station was determined. These values were used to
run a stepwise regressionalgorithm to derive empirical models to
estimate water properties from remotely sensed data. Two sets of
data were compared atmospheric corrected and non-atmospheric
corrected. The results showed that the atmospheric correction
improved theaccuracy of the remote sensing models.",
